First Steps with TurtleDocs

  1. Select a Title and subdomain for your site

    1. Click 'Site Management'

    2. Click 'Change Subdomain'

    3. Enter your desired subdomain then click 'Submit' - your public web site will be available at yoursubdomain.turtledocs.com

    4. Click 'Change Header Contents'

    5. Enter at least a title, then click submit. You can also enter a subtitle and header content, and choose whether or not to display your email address. Everything here will show at the top of your public site.

  2. Create a Topic

    1. Click 'Edit Content'

    2. Click New Topic, entering at least a Title and Topic URL, then click 'Save'. More information about the Topic fields is available below.

  3. Create Content

    1. Click 'New Content'

    2. The date defaults to the current time. Feel free to change it.

    3. Enter a headline - this is the title of the content, and appears above it when published.

    4. Use the editor to create your content.

    5. Click 'Save Content'

  4. Publish your site

    1. Click 'Site Management'

    2. Click 'Publish Site'

    3. Your site is now available at yoursubdomain.turtledocs.com

Topic Fields

  • Title - This is the title of your topic, and will display as a heading at the top of the page when published.

  • Description - This will display on your public site in the page headers, underneath the Topic Title.

  • Topic URL - Choose a word that describes your topic. It will be used to create the URL to this topic on the public site, giving the topic a URL of: subdomain.turtledocs.com/url

  • Sort By/Order - Choose how you want content within this topic to be sorted when view in the app and on the public site.

  • Subtopics - If you would like another layer of organization of your content, you can enter subtopics. If subtopics exist, you will see a subtopic field on the content form, and more layouts will be available for this topic.

  • Layout - Choose a layout that makes sense for your content.
